==Early life==
Knoch was born into extreme poverty,〔http://www.truewealthuniversity.com/darrell.php〕 the youngest of seven children. He grew up in the projects of Chicago. His father left for years at a time, which was a relief in some ways, since he was verbally and physically abusive to his wife and the children whenever he was home. Knoch also had an accident when he was one year old that left him with a disfigured face and made him the object of ridicule among his classmates. It wasn’t until he was almost eighteen that he was able to have reconstructive surgery.
